How to Calculate How Much Flooring You Need

Measure the length and width of each room in feet, multiply to get square footage, and add 10 percent for waste (15 percent for diagonal installations or rooms with many angles). Write down the total before shopping — discount flooring is often sold in limited quantities, and you want to confirm you can get enough of one material in one lot.
